The semiconductor industry is critical for all industries and countries, forming the bedrock of our digital and AI-native society. The increasing threat of cyberattacks targeting semiconductor equipment and systems, both at OEM (Tier 1) factories and across the global supply chain, underscores the urgent need for robust protection to safeguard business operations. To address this, we recognize the paramount importance of the SEMI E187 security standard, co-authored by TSMC. This standard is actively being driven by the SEMI Taiwan Cyber Security Committee, in collaboration with government bodies and other key industry players, to establish a closed-loop system. This system will encompass standard adoption, verification of conformity, and officially sanctioned accreditation and certification for E187 by SEMI. We invite two founding leaders instrumental in establishing both the Taiwan SEMI Cybersecurity Committee and the Semiconductor Manufacturing Cybersecurity Consortium (SMCC) to discuss the latest status of cybersecurity measures, including the pivotal role of SEMI E187, and the required practical actions for the industry.
